DOOARS CRICKET TEAM EARNS NATIONAL RECOGNITION

Webdesk, TNI Jalpaiguri 8th May, 2016: A cricket team from Dooars recently earned a National Recognition. The team has appropriated the third position in Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Tournament. The Dhupguri Municipality felicitated the winners on Sunday to encourage them for their future matches. Team Captain Subho Mitra informed that a team of thirteen players had gone to play at the national level. There was no age limitation and players of varying ages had participated. The team secured the third position by the end of the tournament with increment in their points. The felicitation added to their happiness. Reportedly, this same team had been the runners-up at the Students Olympic Association National Game, Agra in the under 17 category. On Sunday, Mr. Arup De (vice-chairman, Dhupguri Municipality) and Mr. Guddu Singh (Secretary, Girls’ College) congratulated the players. Mr. De informed that the players of the Dooars Cricket Academy practice at the Municipal Football Ground. He claimed that the players would be provided with advanced training to play at the national and international levels. The people of Dhupguri are thrilled with the team’s achievement. Efforts are being made to form cricket teams from every municipal block to play tournaments. The local councilor and other representatives have been made aware of the developments.
