Webdesk, TNI Falakata 27th April, 2016: In a tug of war between PWD and NHAI on the allocation of maintenance responsibility of NH – 31D road. In this situation, the work has not taken place in the last few years resulting in the skeletal nature of the road. The highway connects Assam through Falakata and Coochbehar and bears a huge traffic flow every day. Even in this high-speed age the National highway has 4 wooden bridges, which are going through in a dilapidated condition. The bridges are Dolong Bridge, Chortorsha Bridge, Buritorsha Bridge and Sanjaai Bridge. The bridges are having a gap of 2-3 kms between them. The condition of the bridge is like a dreaded deathtrap. People cross those bridges with their life in hand. Theft of the wooden planks is also taking place making the situation worse. Another election has passed away but still the condition remains as it is. Teachers of Raichenga Bidyaniketan Mr. Partha Roy, Mr. Apurba Chakraborty, and Mr. Manoj Saha told TNI that many social demonstrations have taken place by the residents but all in vain. Now the life and fate still hang in the hand of GOD for the localites of this place.
