AN INTERVIEW WITH DIRECTOR ANURAG BASU

Bengal’s very own Bolly director Anurag Basu is here again with his new upcoming flicker “Jagga Jasoos” with the heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor at the queen of hills. They arrived here on Wednesday for the shooting. It is barely four years after Barfi. Jagga Jasoos is directed by Anurag Basu, however, it is jointly produced by Basu and Kapoor. The director Anurag Basu, a meticulous person already done his homework and was shying away from the press. The film is also scheduled to be shot in Morocco. The film stars Govinda, Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif and Adah Sharma, in lead roles, and tells the story of a teenage detective in search of his missing father. In so much hush hush also, Director Anurag Basu talked with timesofnorth.IN about the film. Here are some excerpts of the interview.

TNI: This is your second film being shot at Darjeeling. Is Darjeeling lucky for you?

Anurag Basu: There is nothing about luck and all. I would like to say that it is the love for Darjeeling that makes us come back.

TNI: Do you plan to come back to Darjeeling again for your future projects?

Anurag Basu: Not for the movie,I keep coming to Darjeeling…….I think I come to Darjeeling twice a year maybe four times a year. So I keep coming to Darjeeling and Siliguri. So you saw me only because you have come here when I m shooting otherwise I keep coming here.

TNI: What is so different about Jagga Jasoos than the rest of Anurag Basu’s movies?

Anurag Basu: It is different than other films and I am trying this genre for the first time. Let’s see……

TNI: Anurag Basu and Ranbir Kapoor is a hit pair. What would you like to say about this Director-Actor relationship?

Anurag Basu: We are friends, we are partners and now we run a company together.

TNI: Anurag Basu is an inspiration for all to be directors especially the students into filmmaking. What message would like to give to them?

Anurag Basu: In a life excel cinema……..
