POLITICAL PARTIES AVOIDING DALGAON, KRANTI FOR POOR AGRICULTURAL CONDITIONS

Webdesk, TNI Kranti, 19th March, 2016: When the entire state is busy in Election enthusiasm except in Dalgaon of Jalpaiguri district. It is reported that due to the poor conditions of the farmers of this place the election enthusiasm is not observed in general. The locals have alleged that the political parties are also not giving initiative of going for political campaigns here in Dalgaon, Kranti. The sudden change of the climate has hit the farmers’ fortune of this place. Most of people here are farmers and are solely dependent on agriculture. The Collar Rot (Dhosha) Disease of the potato has affected badly on the agriculture dependent families of Dalgaon, Kranti area. According to the Department of Agriculture, a total of 3000 acres land was cultivated with potato in this season. All of the land area got affected with the Collar Rot disease. This is the main reason why the people are less reluctant in elections this season. On the other hand, affected farmers have alleged that the poor quality of potato seeds was the main reason behind this year’s agricultural debacle. Some others allege that no efforts were made to test the soil condition of this place. Almost all of the farmers are demanding a waiving off their agricultural loan for this season by the Government owing to the problem of this place. Farmers of this place told TNI that all the political parties are avoiding the place fearing to stand beside the farmers in their agitation. However, sources from the district agricultural department said that measures will be taken to solve the problem amicably.
