TEA WORKERS LOCKS DOWN KILKOTE TG OFFICE FOR NON PAYMENTS

Webdesk, TNI Chalsa, 15^th March, 2016: Again there was tension at Duncans Kilkote Tea Garden of Dooars. Today the tea workers locked the office of the tea garden protesting against the nonpayment of their remuneration from January 2016 till date. According to the tea workers, they haven’t received their previous remuneration dues too. The tea workers have further threatened that if the dues were not met then from tomorrow they would pluck the leaves and sell them on their own elsewhere. It is to be noted that Duncans group closed all of their tea gardens of Dooars for a long time. Due to the State Government’s intervention, the management had to open the gardens after assuring the tea workers to clear all the previous dues. However, the agitation of the workers and the indifferent attitude of the management had made the situation back to square one.
