JALPAIGURI TO HOST “MEGA BABY SHOW” CONTEST TO BE ORGANISED BY IMA

Webdesk, TNI Jalpaiguri, 7th March, 2016: Jalpaiguri is going to witness a Baby Show by Indian Medical Association (IMA). One of the main objectives of organizing such event is to find out the level of malnutrition rate among the babies of the districts. It has been found in various statistics that the Labor death rate is very high in Jalpaiguri district. At least 152 mothers die in labor related problem. Reasons like anemia, Iodine shortage etc. are the main reasons behind. All these were put forward in a press conference by the IMA in Jalpaiguri. Dr. Susanta Roy informed that 27th March 2016 is fixed for the Mega Baby Show Contest. There are two groups of participation based on age category i.e. 1 day to 1-year group and another i.e. Above 1 year to 3 years of age. 5 pediatric doctors will be present in the event as experts. They will primarily be checking the health of the babies, timing of vaccination done on the babies, presence of any diseases in the babies etc. There will be around 20 nurses assisting the doctors and the participating mothers of the babies. A total of 300 babies will get a chance to participate in the contest. In the event, along with the show a seminar is also going to be organized where the doctors will be discussing the appropriate techniques of childcare for the mothers.
