MALE LEOPARD CAUGHT IN A TRAP BY VILLAGERS AT GAIRKATA

Webdesk, TNI Gairkata, 4th March, 2016: A wild leopard was caught today by the trap laid down by the villagers. The incident happened today afternoon at Telipara area adjacent to Gairkata. The forest department later tranquilized the animal and rescued it. It was first spotted by some villagers who saw it trapped in the trap laid in the tea garden. Immediately the forest department was called later the forest guards under the leadership of the Honorary Wild Life Warden Smt. Sima Choudhury. However, the reasons of laying the trap are still unknown. Smt. Choudhury informed that the animal was male and with a length of 5 ft. It is now kept at Khairbari Rescue centre.
