BISKFARM MAY CLOSE ITS SILIGURI UNIT DUE TO DUST POLLUTION IN FULBARI

Webdesk, TNI Siliguri, 4th March, 2016: The work of the National Highway is going on for quite some time. Due to the work process, the houses and establishment located on either side of the constructing road are being covered by thick layers of dust particles. While the work is going to the dust of the road enters the households and the establishments so much that that it is difficult to breathe. The problem has become so much worse that a big company like SAJ Food Products wants to close down its plant till the work is completed. The factory employs a huge number of localities who makes food products like biscuits. The factory authorities fear that the dust will definitely ruin the production especially because huge precautionary measures are taken regarding the quality control of the food products. The laborers and workers today have staged a road block in the adjacent Canal Road of the factory. They complained to the press that if the factory closes then it would be difficult for them to survive as they are totally dependent on the factory. The Executive Director of the factory Mr. Falguni Choudhury told the press that they (Factory authorities) have repeatedly informed the administration about the dust due to road construction. However, he said that they fell on deaf ears. If the water is sprinkled every morning and evening then there would not have been any problem in production. However, the administration kept silent in this matter. Mr. Choudhury also clarified that the company is not going to continue the situation for long hence they might have to close the production till the situation normalizes.
