Webdesk, TNI Banarhat, 27th January, 2016: On the eve of Republic Day a relief camp was organized in the closed Bandapani tea garden in Dooars. It was a voluntary initiative by Banarhat Integrated Rural Development Society. The organization secretary, Devyani Basu, informed that usually people go on picnics during such holidays or enjoy the excitement of the day’s celebration. Unfortunately, the locked down gardens do not even get their share of flag hoisting events on such days. Keeping this in mind the organization chose to celebrate the day by setting up relief camp. Reportedly, relief items were distributed on the morning of 26th January among the garden workers after hoisting the national flag. 30 new blankets were given out and 500 workers received (used) warm clothes. The used clothes were collected from Banarhat Tea Garden, Banarhat Bazaar, Karbala Tea Garden and Chunabhati Tea Garden. In this regard, she thanked all the contributors.
