BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF RAMLAL ADHIKARI OBSERVED AT BAGDOGRA

Webdesk, TNI Siliguri, 31st December, 2015: Sixty-ninth birth anniversary of the renowned dramatist, poet, and writer Late Ramlal Adhikari was celebrated today at Ramlal Adhikari Memorial Museum, Bagdogra. Adhikari’s family members, relatives, fans, and followers gathered to attend the birthday celebrations. After the celebration, a committee and jury members were formed to choose the people from various fields who will be felicitated on 26th January 2016. Convener of committee informed that the committee will celebrate birthday anniversary of eminent figure Ramlal Adhikari every year in Bagdogra in bigger form and 12 personalities from each field will be felicitated on Republic day celebration at Little Angel’s School, Milan More, Champasari near Siliguri. In a function, various dignitaries spoke on the life of Ramlal Adhikari who have dedicated his writings to the society and supported poor and needy for their upliftment. Ramlal Adhikari (1946-2005) was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2000 for ‘Nisansmaran’, a compilation of essays, the International Civil Golden Award, Ratnashree Award in Kathmandu, the Sikkim Samman Puraskar and Sikkim Nirman Puraskar in 2005. He also served as departmental head of Nepali department of Darjeeling Government College.
