BANK & INSURANCE EMPLOYEES ORGANIZED RELIEF CAMP AT RED BANK TG

Webdesk, TNI Banarhat, 20th December, 2015: Despite receiving aids from the varied schemes offered by the government, the workers of the closed Red Bank and Surendranagar TGs are seen leaving their homes for other states due to nonavailability of permanent jobs. Death marches have become common at regular intervals has become a political argument. Meanwhile, the tea garden owners have provided some much-sought relief to the workers of the abandoned these abandoned tea gardens. Today with the initiative from the members of the Purbanchal Bima Karamchari Samiti and the Divisional Bima Karamchari Samiti, Jalpaiguri a camp at Red Bank tea garden and another at the Surendranagar tea garden with the aid of the members of the Bank Employees Federation of India were organized. On behalf of the relief camps, Mr. Dhruvjyoti Ganguli said that every family of the garden workers received a packet of supplies at the Red Bank garden. Each packet consisted of 1kg pulse (two varieties), 2kg potato, 1kg onion, 500g sugar, 1kg salt, ½ ltr mustard oil, 500g soya bean, chilli, turmeric, cumin and other spices. Though the workers receive rice by Government’s initiatives, yet other necessary edible items are not provided. Today’s camp provided these essential items. The general secretary of Divisional Bima Karamchari Samiti Jalpaiguri, Mr. Debabrata Chudhary said that 750 such packets have been distributed on this day. The general secretary of Bank Employees Federation of India, Mr. Mrinal Roy said that similar packets (350) were distributed at the Surendranagar tea garden. In addition to these packets, packets of milk, cake and biscuit was also given to the children of the workers.
