INDUSTRY HOPES LOOMS LARGE AND HIGH IN NORTH BENGAL BUSINESS SUMMIT AT SILIGURI

Webdesk, TNI Siliguri, 30th November, 2015: As part of its efforts to incentivize industries located in North Bengal, the West Bengal Government will reimburse electricity duty worth Rs 2.12 cr for 15 units in North Bengal. This is declared by Dr. Amit Mitra, the state’s Minister for Finance & Excise, Commerce & Industries here in the ‘North Bengal Business Summit’ organized by CII in association with Government of West Bengal and WBIDC. The minister also handed bank guarantees to three companies for the upcoming tourism project in Gajoldoba in Jalpaiguri district located about 45 km from Bagdogra airport.
Necessary infrastructure such as drainage, power substations, and roads are being built, he told the industry members, many of whom came from Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan. North Bengal Business Summit (Earlier called North Bengal Conclave) saw participation of industry members from the Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Lalmonirhat Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Rangpur Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry from Bangladesh, Bhutan Chamber of Commerce and Industry from Bhutan, Mechi Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Jhapa Chamber of Commerce and Industry from Nepal as well as from 7 Districts of North Bengal; Coochbehar, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, Darjeeling, Uttar Dinajpur, Dakshin Dinajpur and Malda. The highlights of the Summit were an exposition of the products made in North Bengal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Nepal. Ms Pallavi Kaul, Chairman, West Bengal State Council, said the North Bengal Business Summit is a great platform for brainstorming on ways and means of translating the potential of the region into the welfare of the people with the help of industrialization. Mr. Naresh Agarwal, Chairman, CII North Bengal Zonal Council, delivered the Vote of Thanks. Among the other special dignitaries present was Mr. Barun Ray, Secretary, North Bengal Development Department & Divisional Commissioner – North Bengal.
