By Atish Sen (TNI Banarhat) ~ Edited By R. Subrata (TNI Siliguri)
Webdesk, TNI Banarhat, 26th November, 2015: Today morning in a major fire at Banarhat Bazar three shops were gutted along with a godown. However, there was major confusion to find out the source of the fire because the gutted shops had no electricity connection. After seen the fire the nearby residents started to douse the flames. Water tankers were also brought from the nearby tea gardens. Lastly, fire brigade engines came from Dhupguri and brought the fire under control. It is estimated that properties with a valuation over Lakhs of rupees were destroyed in the fire. By this incident again the demand of establishing a Fire station at Banarhat was fueled. It is reported that in similar incidents fire engines are called in from Malbazar, 40 kms away from the town or from Dhupguri, which is almost 28 kms away. Till the engines come in, all the properties get destroyed in the fire.
