COLLEGE GIRL ATTACKED WITH ACID IN ALIPURDUAR

Webdesk, TNI Alipurduar, 16th September, 2015: A youth yesterday splashed acid in the face of a girl student in the rage of rejection by the girl. The incident occurred in the afternoon hours at the Assam Gate area of Alipurduar. Tension mounted in the area following the incident. The name of the student is Ankita Sarkar, a resident of Bholardabri area of Alipurduar. The accused name is Avi Saha. The girl studies in 1st Year of ABN Seal College of Coochbehar. She has been admitted in Alipurduar District Hospital’s ICU. Later a combing operation has been started by the police for the absconded accused. Local sources said that when the girl was returning from tuitions yesterday, the accused stopped her and splashed acid in her face. Locals ran for her rescue when she started screaming. During the scuffle, the youth ran away. Police sources further confirmed that the youth has been nabbed by the police. The IC of Alipurduar Police Station Mr. Debasish Chakraborty said that since the victim is in a state of shock and critical the victim’s statement could not be recorded till now.
