ARMY COMMANDER EAST COMES TO SILIGURI FOR REVIEW OF SECURITY

Webdesk, TNI Siliguri, 2nd September, 2015: The Lt-Gen. Praveen Bakshi, Army Cmdr. Eastern Command, came to Sukna today for a three-day visit. The main objective of this visit is to appraise the operational preparedness of Trishakti Corps alongside the security situation in this region. He was received by Trishakti Corps Commander, Lt-Gen. Surinder Singh. The Corps Commander briefed him on the operational preparedness of the Corps and certained him that the troops are well prepared for any unforeseen event both during peace as well as war. This is the Army Commander’s first visit to the Corps after taking over the reign of Eastern Command. Army Commander is accompanied by Mrs. Neerupama Bakshi, Regional President Eastern Command AWWA. Lt-Gen. Praveen Bakshi was commissioned into Skinner’s Horse and has rich operational and command experience. He has commanded an Armored Brigade in the Western Sector, a Frontline Division in the deserts and a Corps in the plains sector of Punjab and Jammu Kashmir. Over the next two days, the Army Commander along with the Corps Commander will visit the forward areas and will be briefed by commanders on the ground on all the activities undertaken by the Corps along the border. He is also expected to call on the Honorable Governor and Honorable Chief Minister of Sikkim at Gangtok.
