MORE RAINS IN NORTH BENGAL PREDICTED BY JALPAIGURI MET OFFICE

Webdesk, TNI Jalpaiguri, 31st August, 2015: The Depression Axis is causing heavy rainfall in the districts of North Bengal like Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Alipuduar and Coochbehar, as per the Regional Met Office of Jalpaiguri. Further, the Met office has also presumed that there is a probability of more rainfall in these areas in the next 24 hours. Earlier due to incessant rains from Saturday, areas like Jalpaiguri town, Mainaguri, Dhupguri is already water-logged.
The overflowing waters of Teesta have submerged areas like Domohoni, Barmanpara, Basusuba of Mainaguri Block. Thousands of people are now out of their homes. Civil Defence and NDRF have started their rescue work. On the other side at least 1200 families of Sankhowajhora Gram Panchayat of Dhupguri Block are affected by the flood.
