Webdesk, TNI Jalpaiguri, 31st August, 2015: Continuous rains in the hills had led to the increase of water levels of Jalpaiguri Rivers. Since the water flowing level of Tista has increased incredibly, the comparatively low tributary of Tista i.e. Karala water could not flow into Tista creating a backflow of waters into Jalpaiguri town creating submerged condition. Emergency areas like OPD of Jalpaiguri District Hospital, TB Hospital are flooded with water. Areas like Netajipara, Samajpara, Raikat Para, Din Bazar etc. all are in knee deep water. Areas near River Karala like Paresh Mitra Colony, Raikat Para, Jalpaiguri District Hospital are still in submerged condition. Patients and their accompaniers have a stand in long queues in the knee deep water to wait for their turn. On the other hand, the ward under Jalpaiguri Municipality like ward no. 25 are also submerged and water has entered residential homes forcing the resident to take shelter in upper areas. Dinbazar is totally submerged creating troubles to the shopkeepers and the buyers. Most of the shops in the area are closed due to waterlogging. The chairman of Jalpaiguri Municipality Mr. Mohan Bose said that the Municipality is taking a note of the situation and necessary steps are also taken gradually. Flood relief distribution is also being arranged gradually.
