CATTLE TRAFFICKING BID FOILED BY BSF AT BHATPARA NEAR SILIGURI

Webdesk, TNI Kalimpong, 25th August, 2015: Immediately after getting the tip off, the Border Security Force (BSF) seized two trucks carrying 54 cattle heads expectedly without any sort of valid documents. The incident occurred yesterday night. This was a joint operation with the Customs Department, Siliguri at the link road of BOP Bhatpara 93 BN BSF under the jurisdiction of Police Kotwali. The cattle was being taken from Chaupokharia, Bagdogra (Darjeeling ) to Sonapur (Falakata, Coochbehar) border area for further facilitating the smuggling of cattle heads to Bangladesh. According to the BSF intelligence, the owner of the smuggled cattle is Md Salim, 35 yrs Resident of Jhapa district (Nepal), who is suspected to be one kingpin of cattle smuggling racket. The total values of the seized items are estimated around Rupees 30 lakhs twenty-five thousands. The cattle heads in each truck were mercilessly loaded. The seized cattle heads were illegally transported with cruelty and without valid documents for the purpose of smuggling to Bangladesh through unfenced/river gaps.
