By Rita Das (TNI Siliguri) ~ Edited By R. Subrata (TNI Siliguri)
Webdesk, TNI Siliguri, 22nd August, 2015: The premiere sports library of North Bengal located in Siliguri i.e. “Kriradipti” is gradually facing its death due to negligence. It is heading towards a dilapidated condition. No maintenance has lead to such a situation of this iconic sports library. The plaster and furniture are in a state of disintegration. Located in the focal point of Siliguri sports circuit yet there are no one to stop its extinction. Initially when it was inaugurated on 10th August 2008 by the former Indian Cricket team captain Saurav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and Irrfan Pathan the things were not such worse. People especially the children along with their parents used to visit the museum regularly.
Not only from Siliguri were visitors there from other parts of Bengal too. Interestingly in ‘Kriradipti’ is studded with sports apparels used by famous cricketers of the world like jersey, sports items, self-autographed cricket bats, game played balls, gloves, pads etc.
Various famous photographs of Sports stars, who came to Kanchenjungha Stadium is also adorning in this sports museum etc. If at all the Kriradipti is dies out, it will definitely be a big shocker for North Bengal’s sports lovers.
