ARMS SHOW BY INDIAN ARMY AT KALIMPONG

Webdesk, TNI Kalimpong, 10th August, 2015: In a bid to boost the image of the Army, the army personnel of ‘Striking Lion Division’ here organized a two days exhibition ‘Know your Armed force’ in Town Hall which kicked off yesterday and ended today. Different schools were invited to witness the exhibition of arms and ammunitions. Various weapons were put on display for two days where the Army’s explained the visitors about the functions of different types of arms. The exhibition had the small arms like the 5.56 rifles to bigger arms like multiple barrel grenade launcher and nuclear ballistic water shoot.
Besides that, the signaling equipment used for communication was placed in the exhibition since Sunday. In the display, the army’s also had the bulletproof jackets and the types of clothing’s which they wear in higher altitudes, explaining the importance of clothes to this correspondent one Army demonstrated the layers of clothes which they wear in high altitudes, showing the different types of ‘made-in-Italy’ jackets and boots he said, ‘these are worn in layers, the sweater is the first layer, brown color jacket the second and the white jacket the third layer.’
The presentation of emergency landing or coming down from the hovering helicopter was also given to the students who were eager to know more, showing the rope with a small stick, one Lok Badhur Pun said, ‘When the chopper fails to land in an unlikely situation, we need to get down with the help of these strong ropes.’ The enthusiasm in the students were very transparent and this journalist could assume that the students had never paid attention to their class teachers like the way they were paying attention to the Army’s who were giving presentations, the students were also raising questions in between the Army’s speech. The defense documentary was also shown inside the hall today. When asked the concerned head about the motive of the exhibition, Colonel Bhandari of ‘Striking Lion Division’ (Durpin) said that they wanted the civilians to know that the country is in the safer hands and they also wanted the people to know about the advancement and confidence in their Army, ‘the people must know that the country is in safe hands as we have the new and advanced equipments, we also want to encourage the youths to join this profession’ said Bhandari.
