WORKSHOP ON INDO NEPAL TOURISM PROSPECTS HELD AT SHIVMANDIR, SILIGURI

Webdesk, TNI Siliguri, 9th August, 2015: A workshop was organized by Association for Conservation & Tourism (ACT) and technically supported by CII-North Bengal, along with the Department of Management, NBU yesterday. The workshop was based on creating a few destinations between Eastern Nepal, North of West Bengal and Sikkim, that can be promoted jointly by both the country and the concerned organizations. The venue of the workshop was Hotel Monarch Aanchal, Shivmandir. The members from CII-North Bengal, FNCCI-Eastern Nepal, Department of Management-NBU, HOT council, Sunsari Tourism Promotion Committee-Nepal, Green Generation-Nepal and Ministry of Culture and Tourism & Civil Aviation-Government of Nepal.

Apart from this various hospitality and travel operators were also present in the meeting. Mr. Raj Basu, the main convenor of the program talked to TNI about the importance of this program. According to him “Once Darjeeling Tourism included Sikkim in 1995 and Bhutan in 2005 for the Indian Domestic Tourist and now in 2015 adds Eastern Nepal. ACT, which started its mission of Khangchendzonga Region International Ecotourism Park (KRIEP) with North Bengal and Sikkim in 2002, confirmed easy access of Eastern Nepal Circuit of Jhapa, Illam, Dharan and Taplejung areas from today, as an extension of the North Bengal, Sikkim and Bhutan combination in tourism”. He also said “Such an initiative will definitely be boosting the tourism prospects of Eastern Nepal along with our traditional Darjeeling, Sikkim and Dooars region.
