THE RETURN OF ‘MAGGI’ ON THE CARDS
TNI News Service (TNS)
Webdesk, TNI New Delhi, 05th August, 2015: In an interesting and surprising development the FSSAI-approved laboratory of Central Food Technological Research Institute found Maggi noodles from Nestle India to be safe for human consumption. According to the Goa FDA Director, Mr. Salim A. Veljee said to the press “CFTRI finding shows that samples are in compliance with the food safety standards as per the Food Safety and Standards Rules, 2011″. During the Maggi turmoil in the country, Goa FDA had sent the Maggi noodles samples to Mysore-based CFTRI for retesting. This is because during that period FSSAI itself had expressed apprehensions on state FDA’s initial reports about Maggi. Nestle India was forced to take off their highest selling noodles brand off the shelves. FSSAI had also banned Maggi during that period. FSSAI had also said that Nestle violated labeling regulations on taste enhancer ‘MSG’ and ordered the company to submit a compliance report on its orders.
