MEDIA DEMONSTRATION IN JALPAIGURI FOR RESCUING MISSING REPORTER

Webdesk, TNI Jalpaiguri, 03rd August, 2015: The press reporters of Jalpaiguri have come out on the road in protest of the suspected kidnapping of the press reporter from Alipurduar. Today the Press Club of Jalpaiguri has given a deputation to the Divisional Commissioner, DIG and the District Police Super. The club has also forwarded a deputation to the CM in this regard. Today morning the press reporters of Jalpaiguri and Mainaguri have staged a demonstration by wearing black scarf and badges. The press reporters of Alipurduar have also staged a demonstration for the same demand in Alipurduar Chowpathy. According to the reports last came in, the reporters from Siliguri, Coochbehar, and U. Dinajpur also have submitted similar deputation for the same demand. Meanwhile, police have contacted with the Assam Police in this regard. Earlier on Sunday night around 8 pm the Newspaper reporter Chayan Sarkar went missing. His bike was recovered from Salsabari area of Alipurduar. He was last heard from his colleagues when he contacted them regarding some professional matters. Police later recovered his moneybag and a reporter notebook (belonging to him) nearby. The divisional commissioner informed TNI that, it’s a tense situation and the administration is doing whatever is required to rescue him.
