ANOTHER DEATH FROM ILL TREATMENT

Webdesk, TNI Tufanganj, 12th July, 2015: Manoranjan Saha, a 65 years old man, suffering from the respiratory problem, was hospitalized in the Tufanganj Sub-Divisional Hospital on yesterday at around 12 PM. Without any tests and consultancy, the on duty doctor provided an injection. After five minutes, the patient died. This mishap has aroused a huge chaos among the relatives of the victim and also the local people. The local police rushed into the place immediately to control the violent situation. Sandip Kumar Saha, the son of the misfortunate, expressed grievance about the matter and grumbled, ”My father was not at all in the critical condition to die in 5-10 minutes. He was killed by the doctor, his improper injection, and ill-treatment. This kind of ill treatment is unexpected from an experienced and renowned medical practitioner. He must be punished.” The Superintendent-in-charge of the hospital, Dr. Sudhirranjan Mistri said, “The Doctor has been show-caused already. The written complaint attached with the show-cause report will be sent to the higher authority and associate steps will be taken further.” However, the man who came to the hospital with an expectation of proper treatment and dreamt that he will be cured soon left the hospital as a dead body within half an hour. This was not what he deserved. We, the ignorant common people, who know a little about the health system, often face this kind of problem. We totally rely on our doctors and they take an undue advantage of our ignorance causing the pathetic condition to us. An incident like this affects our belief to consider doctors as life savers. Is there any way out for the hopeless and helpless common people?
