ENUMERATION IN CHIT ENCLAVES ENDS IN DAY 2 AT INDO-BANGLA BORDER

Webdesk, TNI Chitmahal Enclave, 8th July, 2015: From yesterday i.e. Monday the 6th of July the census and enumeration work in the Chitmahal enclaves of India and Bangladesh has started officially. Today was the second day of the same. Among the chit mahal enclaves, 55 comes under mainland India and the rest 111 is in Bangladesh. The enumeration is being done in the Indian side. As far as the Indo-Bangla treaty is concerned from 1st August the Indian enclaves will be officially be merged with Indian mainland and vice versa. Administrative sources say that the enumeration works are being carried out at those enclaves, where there is human habitation.

However, there are more such enclaves, where there is zero inhabitation. Both Bangladesh and India is jointly doing the enumeration works in their respective countries by establishing camps. Mashaldanga is one such enclave which is the largest human inhabited enclave within India. It has got 19 villages within it. Kachua enclave is also part of Mashaldanga. The inhabitants of this place have become highly energetic because of the enumeration program being held here. The people are seen visiting the enumeration centers every day. Among them, Karimuddin Sheikh talked with TNI and said “Though we are from Bangladesh yet I feel as an Indian. I and my family want to stay in India after the merging”. The SDO of Dinhata Mr. Krishnava Ghosh said that “Those children who are born after 2011 census in these enclaves will also be included in this census cum enumeration program”. Till the last reports, which came in, the process of 45 families was over on the 2nd day of the program on Tuesday.
