FLOOD SITUATION FURTHER WORSENS IN JALPAIGURI DISTRICT

Webdesk, TNI Jalpaiguri, 02nd July, 2015: The horrible condition of Teesta Floods is yet to be over. The army has stepped into the scenario for rescue operations. The blocks of Malbazar subdivision like Basusubha, Mainaguri etc, which was highly affected by floods, saw joint rescue operation by Army and NDREF. Since, the river boards have caved in, so the process of normalization was hit because gallons of water are entering the villages from the holes of the damaged river boards. Many villagers in these villages lay stranded in the floods. Due to security reasons the Gajoldoba barrage authorities have opened the lock gates and released at around 5000 cusec of water. This has caused a major reason for the flood in the villages like Domohoni, Coochbehar-Mekhligunj stretch. A red alert has been declared in these areas.
