Webdesk, TNI Siliguri/Mirik, 02nd July, 2015: The Chief Minister of Bengal Ms. Mamata Banerjee had rescheduled her trip had reached North Bengal on yesternight and took updates from the local administration about the extent of the rescue works done in the landslide affected sites in Mirik, Kalimpong and other areas in Darjeeling district. The Chief Minister visited the affected areas today especially Mirik and also. Last night, when the Chief Minister arrived at NJP by Shatabdi Express talked with the media, who were waiting for her at the station, said that 99% of the rescue work is complete. She also reiterated that the State administration is working round the clock to complete all procedures to hand over bodies of the victims to their families for their last rites, for which assistance is being provided by the local administration. Today morning when she reached Mirik she talked with the affected families while distributing the compensation amount to the families, which was declared earlier. She also focused upon the plains, where vast areas in Jalpaiguri District have been inundated due to a sudden rise in water level in all major rivers and many people got affected. More than two thousand people have been rescued to a safe place, she said.
