THE SILENT LOSS OF SILIGURI’S BOTANICAL MAN; M.PRA

The Botanical Man of Siliguri College was very famous personality especially among the students, scholars, researchers and teachers of Botany in Siliguri is concerned. The man who silently worked for only one thing i.e. Botany, he is none other than the veteran ex-professor from the Department of Botany, Siliguri College Late Dr. Madhur Pramanik. Yes ‘late’ means he has left us for his journey to the heavenly abode as silently as he worked for his students, as silently as he worked for his college, as silently as he worked for the movement called botanical science. On 4th of June 2015 by a massive heart attack, Dr. Madhur Pramanik passed away leaving behind is a son and his wife. However, that’s not all he left behind. He left behind his entire world of Botanical excerpts, i.e. his students, scholars, and researchers, who are working in his botanical path of the expedition. The life of Dr. Pramanik was nothing but an expedition towards the botanical tranquility. In his journey towards that, he has not left any stone unturned to find the perfect botanical freedom. Ask anybody in Siliguri College, about this man and you will be getting the reply of this simple man or rather the simplest personality with a bicycle, always in search of sincerity. M. Pra the popular name of this man is the thing which anybody can identify starting from the college to the University (NBU). Current and former students still can’t believe his passing away so silently. M. Pra was a great support for all of them. How weak you are in your botany. M.Pra is there to help you to turn away the boredom of this subject. His students are spread worldwide still can’t believe his death. This loss will take a very long time to fulfill in the days to come for the botanical fraternity in Siliguri. Many of his closest believe that his carefree attitude towards his self and his over passion has taken him away because he wasn’t serious about his health. No health checkups, no controlled regimen, and huge workload may have taken his life but not his sincerity towards his passion.
