By D. Prasun (TNI Siliguri) ~ Edited By R. Subrata (TNI Siliguri)
Webdesk, TNI Siliguri, 14th June, 2015: At last the problem of Dumping ground in Siliguri came to a temporary stoppage. For the last few days the problem crippled up when the local residents of the Dumping ground area staged a blockade in the area preventing the trash trucks to unload trash in the area. The trucks stayed in standing condition near the dumping ground area leading to more pollution due to the rotting of the trash in the trucks. The mayor sat in with the local protesting residents. According to the reports a committee was formed which included the local residents of the dumping ground area. The mayor declared to the press that the problem is being solved for the time being. Due to the unavailability of an alternative dumping place, the trash can be unloaded in the dumping ground area for the time being. All the Cleaning Worker’s leaves have been suspended. They have been instructed to remove the trash from the city”. However, the protesters said that the blockade has been lifted for a month only. If the problem is not resolved within this time the protest will again resume as planned.
