RABINDRA BHARATI UNIVERSITY PROFESSOR DIES IN AN AVALANCHE AT LADAKH

Webdesk, TNI Kolkata, 9th June, 2015: A tour friendly Bengali family from Kolkata met with an accident at Ladakh when they came across a sudden full-blown avalanche. It had claimed the life of the mother and son of the family. The husband Dr. Padmanava Basu is a Senior Scientist from Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, Kolkata. He was also trapped in the debris and after 12 hours he was recovered by the locals. The dead bodies of Dr. Rajasree Basu, who happens to be an Associate Professor of Political Science at Rabindra Bharati University and Soumyadip Basu, an IIT student are likely to be brought to New Delhi tomorrow in the morning. According to the RBU sources, the university is taking up all the measures to see that the dead bodies are brought back to Kolkata as soon as possible. But due to flight timings, the dead bodies are not likely to come before Wednesday afternoon, said Prof. Arindam Mridha of RBU. The VC has already expressed grief at the demise of this lively professor, added he. They have even spoken to the Delhi Residential Commissioner to make sure the bodies are brought to Kolkata quickly. An atmosphere of grief and sorrow has already been cast over the University. The university is likely to declare a holiday to mourn the sad demise of the lively professor.
