Webdesk, TNI Siliguri, 26th Apr, 2015: By and large the Siliguri Municipal Elections 2015 passed away peacefully. Some incidents like non functioning of EVMs in the some of the polling booths of the added areas happened early in the morning, however, by the strict vigilance of the administration the problem was sorted out fast. Voters were seen standing in long queues from the morning despite some rains. However, the rush was around 8-10 am.
This time the excitement was seen among the women voters of Siliguri. In most of the polling booths of Siliguri women voters were seen standing very long to cast their votes for their choice of candidates. No incidents of booth capturing and booth jamming were reported by any parties in Siliguri. Earlier, there was a buzz that external elements were hired for creating chaos in the city, which was not found anywhere. If the words of both the leadership is to be considered, all the parties were seen confident about their win in the SMC polls. The main cause of concern was the unexpected earthquake in the city. This has thinned the crowd for the votes; however, later it recovered during the end of the voting time i.e 2:30 pm.
