Webdesk, TNI Siliguri, 22nd March, 2015: The most prestigious of all Book Fairs of North Bengal the North Bengal Book Fair 2015 comes to an end today evening. This year it was a bit late in organizing the event. However, that didn’t deter the booksellers to participate in such a grand platform of North Bengal.
According to Mr. Lal Bahadur Roy, the organizing secretary of the Book Fair, the booking has to be closed at least one month before the event. Last time it was 72 book stalls participating this time it has risen to 90. However, due to the congestion and the timing the footfall has been lesser especially during the noon hours. Apart from this the board examinations like ICSE, CBSE, and Higher Secondary examinations also led to the thinning of the crowd. However, the evening hour crowd is very encouraging. Mr. Roy also said that they are trying to the utmost to get a permanent solution for the location of the Book Fair in the near future. Moreover, Greater Siliguri Book Sellers and Publishers Welfare Association (GSBSPWA) is working hard for the promotion of the Book Fair to the bigger audience. This time there are booksellers from Kolkata, Mumbai, Meerut, Patna, Tripura, Assam etc. and even there is International participation like Bangladesh. North Bengal Book fair has also seen various other cultural events like Daily Quiz, Live TV Talkshows, Literary Meets etc. drawing huge audiences. In a nutshell, the NBBF 2015 has gained momentum this year despite constraints. TNI presents a small film for NBBF 2015.
