Webdesk, TNI Siliguri, 14th February, 2015: Age old Kali Temple Sri Sri Aanandamayee Kali Mandir of Siliguri was re-inaugurated yesterday (13/02/2015) at the Kalibari Road. As far as history was concerned this temple has been established by Charan Kobi Mukunda Das, Bengali poet, ballad singer, composer, and patriot, who contributed to the spread of Swadeshi movement in rural Bengal. It was a small temple during that time later the importance of the temple grew larger and larger after the Independence of India from the British rule. The temple has an Atithi Niwas in the pattern of New Delhi’s Kali Temple. The re-structuring of the temple was started on 2007, but due to some constraints, the work was not smoothly running hence a long time passed by to give the modern shape of the mandir. The officials of the Mandir committee told the press that the donations for construction came not only from North Bengal but from the entire country as such. Various artisans from various parts of Bengal and India had worked in this project. Laden with modern architecture the temple has now become one of the important tourist attractions of Siliguri. In the re-inauguration occasion, the chief guest was Swami Akhkhayanandaji Maharaj from Ramkrishna Mission, Jalpaiguri, MIC Mr. Gautam Deb, NBDD, MLA Dr. Rudranath Bhattacharya and other dignitaries. In the function, all the yesteryear purohits of the Kali temple were being felicitated. After a brief addressing, the chief guest along with the other chief invitees inaugurated the temple building with lighting the lamp in front of the Kali idol. At the end of the session all of the devotees were offered, Prasad.
