SMARTPHONES TO BE USED IN DELHI ELECTIONS 2015

Webdesk, TNI New Delhi, 12th January, 2015: Delhi Polls is declared here by the Election Commission, which will be held on Saturday, February 7 and counting of votes will take place on Tuesday, February 10. Simultaneously, the model code of conduct has started with immediate effect. In a press conference by the Election Commission, ECI Commissioner, Mr. V Sampath said to the press “President’s rule in the national capital will end on February 15. The election results have to be declared before that. Photo electoral rolls will be used in Delhi polls,” he added.

It is to be noted that smartphones and mobile apps is going to become the newest feature in the New Delhi Assembly polls. It is reported that Delhians can now check their names in the voters’ list and also know the polling officer of their area through their smartphones. The election office will be launching an android app – ‘Delhi Election’. “People can find out their names in electoral roll by downloading ‘Delhi Election’ app in their smartphones. Besides, they can also check application status and their constituency through this android app launched recently,” said a senior official. He said that apart from that, people can also know their election officer and booth-level officer (BLO) of their area through this app. The officer further clarified that “As most people use smartphones, this app will prove very useful for them and they can get any public information pertaining to the upcoming Assembly elections on their phones”. Interestingly the State Election Commission also recently launched an SMS service facility through which people can know if their names are registered in the electoral roll. The ECI issued the information that, one has to message EPIC Voter ID card no to 7738299899 or 1950. ECI further said that the people can also check their names in the voters’ list on the link ceodelhi.gov.in. People can also call 1950 to check whether their names are in the voter’ list or not.
