HANSQUA T.E. CELEBRATES ‘KARAM PUJA’ THROUGHOUT THE DAY

Webdesk, TNI Bidhannagar, 12th September, 2016: Karam Puja was today celebrated throughout North Bengal including Hansqua Tea Estate of Darjeeling district near Bidhannagar. According to Santhali mythology, Karam is the worship of Lord Karam. Lord Karam is considered as the god of power, youth, and youthfulness. The excitement is being observed among the labourers and tea workers of the Tea Estate. The main program was organized today at Hansqua Tea Estate Football Ground. For the last couple of days, the decorations were done by the members of the Tea Labour union of Hansqua Tea Estate. The whole day was celebrated by the Karam Puja. The Karam tree was planted and around the tree, seven types of cereals were laid as prasad. Later in the day Santhali Cultural Festival was organized and Prasad distributed among the invitees and puja performers.
