Webdesk, TNI Siliguri, 12th September, 2017: Though the game of Carrom is very much popular and acceptable yet it is yet to see its rise among the audiences in North Bengal and even in West Bengal. From unconfirmed sources, it is learned that the game came into the limelight from 17th Century.

However, there are no documentary evidence to support the claim. Most of the people associate Carrom as a Home sport unlike their thoughts do not even consider it as a grand slam sport played by various strong players worldwide. The scenario of North Bengal is quite similar. Few groups of people have maintained the sports as their passion but in times their voice goes unheard or sounds feeble among the Big Bang sports like Cricket, Football, Table Tennis, Badminton, Chess etc.

Mr. Durjoy Ghosh, the 3 time Bengal State Champion in State Level Carrom Championship vehemently accepts the Guardian level discouragement towards the sport for their warts. According, to him, despite huge benefits for the players in the National level yet it the sport remains non-focused. However, the hope continues towards the supporter of the sport for gaining momentum in this part of the country.
